The Chinese developed massage as a therapeutic tool over four thousand years ago dating earlier than the Sui Dynasty (589-617 A.D.). There had been a great variety of people who have used massage including the Mayan people of Central America and the Incas of South America. What types of Massage are available?

Relaxation Massage

This is a smooth, relaxing massage composed of gently increasing levels of pressure. It improves the circulation, relieves muscular tension, improves the range of movement, and promotes an increased feeling of well-being and relaxation. Relaxation massages can be done on individual areas of the body, such as back, face, hands, feet, or they can be done as a whole body massage.

Aromatherapy Massage

This is a combination of massage and the therapeutic properties of essential oils. It promotes relaxation, harmony and balance. The plant-based essential oils are chosen for their specific properties and actions on the body.

Legs (Hip/Thigh) Massage

This is a stimulating massage for the circulatory and lymphatic system concentrating on cellulite and fluid retention.

Indian Head Massage

For 1000s of years massage, has been an integral part of family life on the Indian sub continent, with massage of the head as an essential element as the rest of the body.

Indian Head Massage is a powerful holistic therapy which involves massaging of the neck, shoulders and arms helping in the relief of stress, tension, headaches, eye strain and other physical ailments that can effect the upper part of the body and instilling calm and tranquillity with increasing the level of alertness and concentration. It can be performed with the client fully dressed and does not require creams or oils making it highly suitable for performing on-site in any office environment.

On-site Corporate Massage

It is now not unusual for masseurs to be found working in the office environment, providing 10 to 15 minute massage sessions in the form of a back massage or Indian Head Massage, to help relax and revitalise staff.

The office environment is proving to be increasingly stressful, and managers are finding that members of staff can be much happier and efficient after receiving a treatment.

Theatre Massage

Actors and performers experience a particular type of stress and pressure during rehearsals and performances, they have a great need for relaxation, not just for their own mental well-being, but also for the benefit of the body and the voice. Providing 10 to 15 minute massage sessions in the form of a back massage or Indian Head Massage is particularly good for relaxing and revitalising the upper part of the body prior to a performance.

What can you expect from a treatment?

Session times vary depending on the massage treatment selected, but all start with a brief consultation.

Except for the Indian Head Massage, On-site Corporate Massage and Theatre Massage all the other massages will require you to de-robe to some extent, a light application of oil is then applied to the skin, gentle but firm pressure is then applied using a steady and continuous flow of movement resulting in a relaxing, stress busting massage.

Through the course of any massage session, you may experience sensitivity or tenderness. This is quite normal, and as you continue to have treatments you will find that this tenderness and sensitivity will ease and even disappear
